Collective Institute (D.C.I.) 1977-1980. Located

Music and Arts School of Music - Roswell, GA 1996 - 1999.
Larry has been providing drum set and snare instruction privately
for over 32 years. He and his student each play on their own
drum set which aids in the learning process. Larry also
focuses on the art of using "approaches" to convey
particular ideas and concepts to his students. This
is an excellent tool used to enable the student to better
understand and retain what is taught during the lesson.
In any given lesson, emphasis is usually placed on: technique,
rudiments, theory, ear training, time keeping, performing
skills, adapting to different styles, and feels. To
help apply what is learned, time is always spent during each
lesson to playing along with music using his personalized
CD's which are also complementary to the student. In addition
to using CD's, Larry also records portions of the lesson onto
a CD or USB drive for the students to use at home. He
assists his students in preparation for school band auditions,
music college entrance evaluations and helps to prepare students
for local drumming competitions as well. He is fluid
with several styles of playing and enjoys teaching people
of all ages.
Larry will assess each student's
strengths in learning and adapt his teaching style accordingly
to fit their needs. He takes a lot of pride in both
playing and teaching, and it shows in his work. His
motto is "Having fun doing what you love is the key to
success." Larry is also soon to release his comprehensive
method book: "Chasing the Drum."
